an unexpectedly short vacation
reached sibu at around 5pm on wednesday.used the lanang bridge..ahh the thought of the kampua mee, kueh chap, mien tai, the bandung seafood all really makes me hungry and so damn eager to go sibu.
however...jeng...after few kilometers of driving...there was huge puddle of water in front...flood! so we thought it was minor since the whether is jus so sunny and fine. after passing more than 4-5 sections of flooded road i began to feel nasty about the situation. the rajang river is excatly the same level as the land and this caused the lower than the water level land to get badly flooded.
ok so nevermind...checked into premier hotel...the receptionist told us to park our car at the reserved car park for guests on the 4th floor. and NEVER drive out for the night. by then the longkangs were already full..some place around had minor flooding. ok so nevermind
when night falls...heavy rain came. bad sign...

this is before the rain and tide came...upon checking in we went for a drive 'down memory lane' around sibu. roads were so badly congested that sibu actualy looked worst that KL.
nite falls. rained even more heavily. so we decided jus to have dinner at SCR opposite our hotel. nite came...water levels rose line nobody's business...
the aftermath...

that was taken just before we checked out of our hotel. we checked out less than 24 hours after we reached sibu...amazing isnt? our hotel is like an island in the middle of the sea...we had to drive thru a short flooded section and using the backlanes to pass through all the floods and head straight towards the durin road which is the other route out of sibu....thank God that route wasnt flooded...else habisla..trapped in sibu liao...
reaching the durin bridge...what a relief
420km to go! and but they missed out this...50 kms of lousy, rough under construction road ahead -.-!
on top of durin bridge...just look at the size of the mighty rajang river...this is not the biggest part yet...cant imagine how wide is the river mouth like....scary!stopped by sarikei for a good hearty lunch before heading to kuching again...what an experience. cant help felling so anxious during the whole trip...hah...cant imagine if it flooded so badly that we got trapped there for a few more days....

finally...the tranquil journey back to kuching~
looking forward to go back again....too many unfinished business left at sibu...hahaha
